New pack Member Acceptance

                                                      AGGRESSIVE   DOG SOCIALIZATION

Have you ever considered a playmate for your dog?, It’s always a gamble finding a pack mate for your dog, after all the introduction of a new dog can go either way, they may hit it off immediately or it could be a huge mistake as each dog wants to tear the other to pieces.

Oh no what now! What have we done? All is not lost under correct management this issue can be fixed with pleasing results; learning how to introduce the dogs is the key to success. Most importantly we have to become the leader and take control of the situation so both dogs’ look to us for direction and leadership. When a new pack mate is introduced straight away a leadership contest is apparent, both dog’s want to know who the leader of the pack is, it doesn’t have to be a physical fight, dog’s are masters of body language and dominance is achieved in non confrontational ways, however if direct aggression is evident then socialization under strict safety measures is necessary, we do not want dog’s to injure each other as the results can be life threatening.

The solution, this process must be managed by a professional behaviourist under strict management. Each dog needs to be introduced using two assistants with the dogs on leads. The dogs enter the room simultaneously with the trainer in the room to read the body language of the dog’s and make the decision of applying corrective measures with a consequence of their actions, correctly managed socialisation of warring  dog’s will take place and the dog’s will accept each other into the room, this will generally take around 30 minutes of training with a ongoing socialisation schedule in place.
